Every question now has its own comment thread with @mentions, and every workspace has clear owner/admin/member roles — feedback stays attached to the question it's about.
If you've ever reviewed a form with a teammate, you know the drill: someone drops a note in Slack — "hey, should question 4 be a dropdown?" — and by the time anyone gets back to the form, the message has scrolled off the screen, the context is gone, and nobody remembers which question it was even about.
We built two features to fix that, and they ship together on purpose: Team Collaboration & Comments, and Roles & Permissions. One decides who can say something; the other makes sure what they say never gets lost.
Every question in Orbiform now has its own comment thread. Click the comment icon next to any field and leave feedback that's permanently tied to that exact question — not a general note about "the form," but a note about that dropdown, that rating scale, that one confusing label.
A few things we think matter here:
Comment on a question, or the whole form. Question-level comments for specific feedback, or the workspace-wide panel for notes about the form as a whole — both live in the same place, so nothing falls between the cracks.
@mention a teammate and they're notified instantly. Type @ and a name while writing a comment, and that person gets a notification right away. No separate Slack message, no "did you see my comment on the form?" follow-up.
Threaded replies keep context intact. Reply under any comment and the whole back-and-forth stays attached to the original point — not a flat list of comments where you have to guess what replied to what.
Edit and delete your own comments, live. Fix a typo or retract a note any time; everyone else viewing the same form sees the change immediately, no refresh required.
Notifications deep-link straight to the comment. Click a mention or reply notification and it opens the form and scrolls right to that comment — briefly highlighted so you don't have to go hunting for it.
Find any comment with ⌘K. Search across every comment on every form in your workspace from the command palette, and jump straight to a match. If you've ever tried to remember which form a piece of feedback was even on, this is for you.
The upshot: agencies collecting sign-off from a client, distributed teams doing async review instead of a live call, anyone who's ever lost track of which Slack thread a comment belonged to — this is built for exactly that friction.
Comments only work if the right people can actually see and post them — which is where Roles & Permissions comes in. Every Orbiform workspace has exactly one owner, plus any number of admins and members, and the boundaries between them are deliberately simple:
That last point is the one we hear the most relief about: members aren't locked out of building — they're locked out of the stuff that isn't theirs to touch. Nobody has to be made an admin just so they can actually do their job.
A few details worth calling out:
Every form shows who's editing it, live. A row of member avatars and an "edited by" indicator on every form ties directly back to who's in the workspace and what they can touch — you always know who's in there with you.
Comments respect workspace membership. Only people invited into the workspace can be @mentioned, or can view and post comments. Access control and Team Collaboration aren't two separate systems bolted together — they work off the same membership list.
Inviting someone takes one step. Add a teammate's email from Settings → Team. Existing users join instantly; everyone else gets a link that joins them the moment they register with that email.
Comments are only as useful as the group of people who can see them. Roles are only interesting once there's something worth restricting. Shipping them together means a form review actually looks like this: invite the two people who need to weigh in, they comment directly on the questions they have opinions about, tag each other when they need a specific answer, and nobody touches billing by accident along the way.
That's the whole idea — feedback that stays exactly where it happened, and a workspace where everyone can build without anyone having more access than they actually need.
